The Pink Ladies 10, Mugs

In the opener of the KLOB Spring 2007 season, A Bunch of Mugs & A
Pitcher (0-1) were dealt a disappointing 10-9 defeat. The decision marks the second consecutive year the Mugs loss their
opening game to The Pink Ladies (1-0).
The Ladies took control early scoring two runs in the top of the first.
But the Mugs defense was quick to stiffen, putting the Ladies back in their place while the offense muscled their way to a
five run lead. However, by the fifth inning the Ladies put their foot down to show that they had had enough. After
throwing down a few Mugs, the Ladies began loosening up and getting hot before pulling out with the narrow victory.
Despite
the loss, the Mugs showed signs of another successful season to come. Newcomers Dara Liberati, Brian Packer, and Amy
Lauenstein debuted well, each going two for three at the plate. Surehanded Jess Wilson showed promise too, ‘wo’ing
the crowd with an acrobatic catch to help stop a Ladies rally in the sixth.
The Mugs will try to notch their first
win of the season again next week when they host C.U.N.ex.T.hursday at 8:10 PM on Utz Stadium’s Field 1.
