A Bunch of Mugs & A Pitcher (2-0) rolled over Ball Busters (0-2) Thursday
night at Utz Field. The contest marked the sixth meeting between the two teams; all six have been won by the Mugs.
Looking to put a different spin on this one, the visiting Balls skipped
out to an early two run lead after bagging a couple scores in top of the first. But the Mugs immediately bounced back,
plating three runs of their own on a Dave Packer homer; one of two he slugged on the night. From there, the Mugs never
slowed down. Veterans Eric Mack and Leanne Lauenstein led an offensive surge that shot loads of runs across the plate
and made it sticky for the Balls the rest of the way.
Defensively, the Mugs showed the Balls what it means to be well rounded.
Slick fielding Suketu Sonecha gunned down a runaway Ball at third and sure handed Robin Lien turned some nifty tricks at second,
sacking the Balls before they could get anything going.
With a bye scheduled next week, the Mugs won’t be in action again
until they face the former KLOB champions Belligerent Drunken Buffoons on Thursday, September 27th. Game time is set
for 6:30 PM on Utz Field 1.
