A Bunch of Mugs and a Pitcher 7, Harm City What? 2
On a cold, rainy night, A Bunch of Mugs and a Pitcher (2-0) defeated the
Harm City What? (0-2) by a convincing 7-2 margin. The win extends the Mugs winning streak to two games, marking the
best start of a season the organization has had in recent memory.
Known for performing well when they're wet, the Mugs controlled the game
almost the entire time. Harm City initiated the scoring in the top of the first by posting a single run. The lead
proved premature, however, as the experienced Mugs remained unfazed and immediately took over the lead position; plating seven
runs in the bottom half of the inning. The large load of scores all came with two outs, a remarkable rally kept alive
with well placed singles by such veteran stars as Lanika Hawkins, Rachel Kordela, and Greg Fine. The elusive Jen Karcher
(roommate of Meghan Keating) capped the inning off with a bases loaded double that cleared the bags and placed an exclamation
point on a quick 10 minutes of work.
After the first inning, the Mugs relied on their stellar defense the rest
of the way. Harm City's biggest threat came in the top of the sixth when they placed a runner at third with two outs.
The kicker lined a knuckle curveball straight up the middle, but sure handed Cathy Strong, renowned for her prowess in handling
of wet balls, made a highlight reel, one handed catch to end the inning unscathed.
Stay tuned for next week when the Mugs will attempt to defend their undefeated
season against Kick the Ceg on Latrobe's Field 3 at 7:30 PM.
