A Bunch of Mugs and A Pitcher 12, Oops, I Crapped My Pants

A Bunch of Mugs and A Pitcher (2-1) dropped a bomb Thursday night,
downing Oops, I Crapped My Pants (0-3) by a 12 to 2 margin at Latrobe Field.
It was a well played game by both sides, far closer than the final score may indicate.
As was the case in last season’s first round playoff contest,
controversy was no stranger to the Mugs and Crappers. With two outs in the top of the first, a Crapper slugger launched a
ball deep to left field. Luckily for the Mugs, bookie Jimmy Lien provided a quick
fix. Standing tall just off the third baseline, Lien inadvertently tripped up
the streaking Crapper, allowing the Mugs to recover with a perfectly executed relay and keep the score knotted at zero. Sparked by their good fortune, the Mugs offense wasted little time igniting. After leadoff kicker Brian Pietryka reached first on a well executed single, Lindsay
‘Ichiro’ Lauenstein followed suit, keeping her perfect batting average intact as she continues her chase of hall
of famer Red Killian’s century old kicking average record. Slugger Mike
Randolph then laid everything on the line (and the second baseman) with a two out double, furnishing the Mugs an early 2 run
lead. However, the Crappers were not deterred, dropping a duce of their own on
the board in the top of the second to retie the score. Remaining focused, the
Mugs responded, placing a runner on third with only one out. The unselfish Meghan
Keating then stepped to the plate and provided the sacrifice the team needed to retake the lead they would not relinquish. Applying a steady stream of offense and a steadfast defense, the Mugs confidently
flushed any hopes the Crappers had of coming back. Closer Brian Pemberton almost
single handedly assured the victory by cracking a grand slam before notching the save with a 1-2-3 seventh inning.
The Mugs will be back in action next week when they go toe to toe with the Red Rockets. Game time is scheduled for 8:30 PM on Latrobe’s
Field #4.
