Without consent, A Bunch of Mugs & A Pitcher (2-1) easily handled
Please Be 18 (1-2) on Utz Field Thursday night. En route to the 9 to 1 victory, the Mugs had a near record setting night
while taking advantage of the 18’s innocence.
Wasting little time jumping on the young, inexperienced 18’s,
the Mugs quickly loaded the bases in the top of the first. Aided by a strong crosswind, slugger Dave Packer stepped
to the plate and launched a triple to right field, clearing the sacks and spotting the Mugs an early three run lead.
Almost every Mug would go on to get a piece as nine different runners accounted for each of the nine runs. Meanwhile, the
Mug defense did its part to ensure the lead would not be challenged. Strong armed Mike Randolph added several notches
to his belt, having his way with the 18’s by striking out numerous kickers throughout the night. On the rare occasion
Randolph let others get some play, the Mug defense pounced on as many 18’s as possible. Smooth fielding Suketu
Sonecha took the law in his own hands, turning in a highlight reel double play by picking off a streaking 18 trying to score
at the plate.
The Mugs will be back in action again next week when they take on the former KLOB champion Belligerent
Drunken Buffoons at 6:30 PM on Utz Field 1.
