A Bunch of Mugs

Game 3 - Fall 2007

After rolling to two easy victories to kickoff the season, A Bunch of Mugs & A Pitcher (3-0-0) engaged a team they had never beaten before; former champs, the Belligerent Drunken Buffoons (1-1-1).  The Mugs took the challenge in stride, dominating the Buffoons in nearly every aspect of the game to pull out a 4-2 victory and keep their undefeated season alive.
 
The Buffoons started the scoring with a two run two out triple to deep left field in the bottom of the third.  But the Mugs immediately responded, showing they weren’t there to clown around by tying up the score on slugger Brent Sauer’s two out triple in the top of the fourth.  The Mugs then rallied for another run in the fifth; selfless Jess Wilson executed one of her two perfectly placed sacrifice bunts putting speedster Katie Mills in prime position for what would prove to be the winning score.  Sensing their imminent defeat, the Buffoons became hostile, but fireballer Brian Pietryka and the Mug defense, highlighted by the first base play of Aaron Ricks and Suketu Sonecha, knew just the tricks to hold them at bay.
