Mugs 12, Scared Hitless 2 (6 Innings)
In a battle of unbeatens, A Bunch of Mugs (3-0) made a bold statement,
easily defeating Scared Hitless (2-1) with a mercy induced 12 to 2 decision. The win marks the third consecutive lopsided
victory the Mugs have had this season.
The Hitless were fearless at the start, plating their first couple kickers
to jump out to an early two run advantage. But the Mugs didn’t panic; the unflappable Matt Frese stepped up and
launched a run scoring double to knot the score in the second. The next inning, pitcher Brian Pietryka helped his cause
with a two out two run double to open up the Mug’s lead. Defensively, the Mugs terrified the Hitless kickers the
rest of the night. A shifty Brent Sauer became their worst nightmare, turning an unassisted double play to help end
a bases loaded no out jam in sixth. A half inning later, veteran Leanne Lauenstein’s walk off run scoring single
ended the game. Lauenstein’s single goes down in history as the 1,600th time a Mug has reached base.
Next week, the Mug’s face off against the traditional league power,
the Belligerent Drunken Buffoons. Game time is set for 6:30 PM on Utz Field 1.
