Belligerent Drunken Buffoons 4, Mugs 1
The Belligerent Drunken Buffoons (3-1) ended A Bunch of Mugs (3-1) quest
for an undefeated season, defeating the Mugs 4 to 1 Thursday night at Utz Field. In the past three seasons, the Buffoons
are the only ones who have been able to defeat the Mugs in a game played during regular season play.
There was no joking around in this one, both teams put forth stellar defensive
efforts to keep the game scoreless through the first three innings. But the Buffoons managed to crack the scoreboard
in the fourth and take a commanding three run lead. Quick thinking Matt Frese and Aaron Ricks made the Buffoons look
foolish, though, each turning nearly identical unassisted double plays. Offensively, the Mugs struggled, but were able
to avoid the embarrassment of a shutout when the strategic Christy Zingarelli set speedster Jason Budden up for the Mugs only
score.
The Mugs will look to get back to their winning ways when they take on
Multiple Scorgasms next week on Utz Field 2. Game time is set for 8:10 PM.
