Mugs 6, Ball Busters 1
A Bunch of Mugs and A Pitcher (3-1-0) licked the
Ball Busters (1-3-1) last night, 6 to 1 at Latrobe Field. The win marks the third consecutive victory for the Mugs.
Leadoff man Brian Pietryka had another stellar night at the plate, reaching
base every plate appearance while providing the Mugs an early one run lead in the top of the first. Taking advantage of a
loose Ball’s defense, the Mugs tacked on two more runs in the top of the second when crafty Greg Berdzik and Sabrina
Truesdell navigated their respective ways home on strategist Matt Frese’s sacrifice fly. The Balls attempted to make
the game hairy in the bottom half of the second, posting a single run in hopes of chipping away at the lead. But the Mugs
offense immediately retorted the Ball Busters, tacking on three more runs the next inning. As the night grew cooler, the Balls
tightened up, holding the Mugs offense at bay the rest of the way. Fortunately for the Mugs, pitcher Mike Randolph mixed his
pitches well, leaving many Balls hanging and causing the Balls to sweat at the plate the remainder of the game.
Stay
tuned next week when first place Team Betty Ford attempts to kick the Mugs. Game
time is set for 8:30
PM on Latrobe's Field 3.
