Mugs  7,  Federal Hill Houdinis  0

A Bunch of a Mugs and A Pitcher (4-0-1) kept their undefeated season intact, shellacking the visiting Federal Hill Houdinis (1-4) en route to their second shutout of the season.  In the process, the Mugs defense tied a franchise record, allowing only five kickers to slip their way on base throughout the entire contest.

The Houdinis started the show with a flare, placing two runners on with no outs in the top of the first.  However, the threat was revealed a mere illusion as trickster Jason Budden baffled the Houdinis with some defensive magic that nearly resulted in a rare double play.  Pitcher Brian Pietryka took over from there, locking in on the Houdini kickers and allowing one measly single over the last six innings of the game.  Meanwhile, the Mug offense dazzled the crowd.  Clutch kicker Cathy Strong’s two out RBI and an elusive Dawn Geary double highlighted the spectacle, providing the extra punch in the 7-0 win.

Next week, the Mugs will attempt to clean up The Dirty Marlins.  Game time is set for 6:30pm on Latrobe’s Field 4.
