O'Doyle Rules 5, A Bunch of Mugs and a Pitcher 1
The undefeated dream of A Bunch of Mugs and a Pitcher (4-1) came to a unexpected
halt last night as O'Doyle Rules (4-1) bounced back from an upset loss last week to win 5-1. The game marked the first
official meeting between the two teams in what has become a long and storied rivalry.
O'Doyle's pitcher, aided in part by the umpire's unique interpretation
of balls and strikes, took a no hit shutout deep into the game. But ole' reliable Greg Fine notched himself a one out
double, breaking up the no hit bid in the top of the 7th. Capitalizing on the RBI opportunity, clutch kicker Sabrina
Truesdell stepped up to the plate and calmly placed a single down the third base line. Her deceptive speed drew the
throw, successfully allowing Fine to trot safely home and crack the goose egg in the score book.
The Mugs will attempt to get back on track next week when they match up
against The Mutha Futhaz. Game time is slated for 8:30 PM on Latrobe's Field 4, the Mugs self proclaimed home field
where they continue to remain undefeated.
