Mugs 5, A Burning
Sensation 4
A Bunch of Mugs & A Pitcher (6-0) kept their undefeated season intact,
scratching by A Burning Sensation (4-2) with a narrow 5 to 4 victory Thursday night at Utz Field. The win clinches the
Mugs the #1 playoff seed in Canton, an unprecedented achievement for the club. The Mugs jumped out to an early
three run lead when veteran Leanne Lauenstein set up Mike Randolph and Eric Mack for some strategic scores. The Sensation,
however, weren’t about to get creamed and promptly responded by loading the bases with no outs in the top of the fourth
before tying up the score. In need of relief, the Mugs defense quickly regained their focus and soothed the Sensation’s
attack the rest of the way. With the game now in the offense’s hands, the dynamic duo of Brian and Morgan
Pietryka led off the seventh with back to back singles. Heroes Dave Packer and Brent Sauer then followed, each smacking
sacrifice flies to plate the winning score. The Mugs are scheduled to close out the regular season next Thursday
night when they attempt to apprehend Baltimore's Finest. Game time is set for 6:30 PM on Utz Field 1.
