Mugs 4, Turtleheads 2

In a rematch of last Fall’s KLOB Championship game, A Bunch of Mugs (5-1) knocked off the previously undefeated Turtleheads (4-1) Thursday night at Utz Field.  The win keeps the Mugs on track for securing the number one seed in the upcoming Canton Playoffs.

The Mugs jumped on the Turtleheads in the first inning when leadoff man Brian Pietryka steadily worked his way around the bases to spot his team an early one run lead.  But the Turtleheads snapped back, plating a run in each of the following two innings to inch out a narrow one run lead of their own.  Slugger Jason Budden ensured it wouldn’t last long, though, promptly shelling out a three run homer for the win.

The Mugs have a bye next week, but will be back in action the following week when they take on C.U.N.ex.T.hursday at 8:10 PM on Utz Field 1.  If the Mugs win, they will clinch first place in the Canton Varsity Division.
