In a battle for possession of first place,
A Bunch of Mugs and A Pitcher (4-1-1) blanked Highballs & Cocktails (4-2-0) last night at Latrobe Field.
The Mug win reestablishes a sense of normalcy to the KLOB standings, returning the Mugs to the top of the division
where they deservedly belong.
The Mugs wasted little time with the
Cocktails using leadoff Brian Pietryka's solo shot to take an early one run lead in the top of the first. After
speedster Morgan Carter helped tack on a couple more runs in the second, Pietryka duplicated his feat with another
bomb to lead off the fourth. To put the Cocktails on ice, the Mug defense had yet another stellar
outing en route to recording their first shutout of the season. The Mugs were so dominate the Cocktails
never managed more than a single runner on base at any point during the game. Third baseman Dave Packer
scooped up nearly every ball kicked his way to aid the Mugs cause.
The final game of the regular season is slated
for next Thursday at 9:00 PM on Latrobe's Field 2. The Mugs will face off against the CEG Replacements
in an effort to clinch co-champion status of the Federal Hill Varsity 1 Division.
