Mugs 8, O'Doyle Rules 1
Thursday night at Latrobe
Field, A Bunch of Mugs and A Pitcher (6-0-1) bullied their way to an 8 to 1 decision over O’Doyle Rules (3-3-1). The victory keeps alive the Mug’s six-game winning streak, once again reestablishing
the club record for consecutive games won.
The Mugs wasted little time
teaching O’Doyle Rules who was in charge. The crafty duo of Morgan Carter
and Lindsay Lauenstein set the tone, each scoring on the Mugs way to posting five runs in the opening stanza. The foxy pair was at it again in the fourth, wrapping up perfect nights at the plate by slipping their
ways home to close out the scoring. While the Mug offense was busy making the
grade, the Mug defense was passing with flying colors as well. Pitcher Mike Randolph
was smoking, keeping O’Doyle’s kickers off balance all night while surrendering a single meaningless run. Backing him up, sure handed Suketu Sonecha made several key plays, ensuring O’Doyle
little luck on the base paths. Unfortunately for the Mugs, the injury bug bit
Sonecha’s leg. The damage appears serious, but at press time, the team
was reluctant to release information that may be of help to their next opponent.
The Mugs will
wrap up the regular season next week when they pay a visit to the Rat Pack on Latrobe’s Field 3. Game time is set for 8:30pm in what will be the Mugs final tune-up
for the play-offs.
