Mugs 11, Tulips on
Deez Balls 1 (5 Innings)
A Bunch of Mugs and A Pitcher (5-2) thoroughly enjoyed playing with Tulips
on Deez Balls (4-3) last night, wrapping up the regular season by easily handling Deez Balls in an 11 to 1 victory.
The win marks the third consecutive game the Mugs induced the mercy rule upon an opponent.
Banging out five
runs in the top of the first, the Mugs made it hairy for Deez Balls right from the start. Kickers Jimmy and Robin Lien, Brian
Pietryka, Morgan Carter, and Leanne Lauenstein each posted perfect three for three nights at the plate and made Deez Balls
sweat. However, the main highlight of the night came late in the game with two outs, the bases loaded, and the elusive
Pietryka headed to third on what seemed like a routine force play. But Pietryka did a dance and managed to slip one
under Deez Balls' third baseman, safely coddling the bag and boosting the Mugs lead. Not pleased with the call, Deez
Balls made sure the ump caught lip and let it be known the Mugs were beneficiaries of some questionable calls. But the
Mug defense ensured the end result was legit, tagging Deez Balls with outs all night. Strong armed Dave Packer teamed
up with sure handed Suketu Sonecha to get a few while the fleet footed Carter turned some nifty tricks too, effectively leaving
Deez Balls feeling blue.
With a 5-2 record, the Mugs have clinched a spot in the KLOB Canton
League Play-offs next Thursday at Utz Field. Game time is yet to be determined, stay tuned!
