#1 Mugs 12, #11 Where My Pitches At? 5
In the second round of the Canton League Playoffs, A Bunch of Mugs (7-1) answered
Where My Pitches At? (3-6) with a convincing 12 to 5 response. The victory clinches a sixth consecutive appearance in
the City Finals for the Mugs. The Mugs' offense smacked the Pitches with a six run deficit in the bottom of the
first making it look like the Pitches would back off early in this one. But constant pitching was not what the foe was
all about; the son of a guns scored scored four runs in the third to show they were there to give the Mugs a decent Pitch
fight. But with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, big dog Matt Frese slapped the Pitches with a grand slam
to blow open the game. Quick handed Katie Mills capped the night, turning a double play to get the last two Pitches
out. After the game, a proud Brent Sauer was thrilled to boast about his first perfect night at the plate this
season and wanted to make sure the opponent would forever remember his name. It was clear the excitment of the moment
may have overwhelmed and confused him, though; he introduced himself by repeatedly proclaiming "I'm Rich, Pitch."* Advancing
to the City Finals, the Mugs look forward to a match up with the fourth seeded Federal Hill team, The Gin Bucket (5-1-3).
