On the tropical pitch of Patterson Park, Federal
Hill's A Bunch of Mugs & A Pitcher (7-2-1) fell to the Mung Munchers (9-0-0) of Canton, 3 to 1. It was a disappointing end
for the Mugs in what was their inaugural City Final appearance.
Playing at Patterson for their first time ever,
the visiting Mugs were off their game from the very beginning. In an early deficit after surrendering
a run in the bottom of the first, the Mugs found it difficult to locate their tried and true form. It
wasn't long before they found themselves down three midway through the contest. Hoping to make a comeback,
the Mugs shot up with some of Nutritionist's Craig Heiser's famous concoction and the offense began showing
signs of life in the top of the sixth. Birthday girl Corie Stover, in what may very
well be her last kick ever, led off the inning with a single. Veteran Greg Fine then brought her home with a two out
knock to give the Mugs a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately, that glimmer was quickly extinguished and the
Mugs found themselves headed home empty handed.
Come Fall, the Mugs hope to revamp and make
another run at the elusive KLOB championship. Be sure to check you local listings!
